Serenity

The crew of the Serenity is getting desperate. They have lied lower and lower to protect their doctor, Simon Tam (Sean Maher), and his telepathic traumatized little sister, River (Summer Glau), from the alliance, from whom he rescued her a year earlier. This has made getting jobs harder and now they are desperate.

I hope that didn’t spoil anything for anyone. I didn’t quote the whole summary. We finally watched this movie on Sunday after watching the whole season 1 dvd. I really liked the series, of course in its original order and edit. I don’t know if I would have liked it as much if I had seen it on-air, out of order, etc.. I love the sarcastic lines the characters have, my favorite being Jayne (Adam Baldwin) then Mal (Nathan Fillion). If I was ever going to be a prostitute, I’d want to be Inara (Morena Baccarin), but who wouldn’t really?

Kickass movie, 6 stars out of 7 and only -1 because we didn’t learn what the deal was with the Shepherd. GO SEE IT! If you want to borrow the TV series dvd first, just let me know

I finally finished Brenu’s sig. I had quite a block going on for about a month but my friend Luvene helped me out of it. Brenu wanted a purple and black color scheme with a gnomish (tinkerers, blueprints, gears.. etc.) background.

I tried for the whole month to make something out in photoshop, I came up with one background that I’m saving for possible future use. It was kinda girly. I’m still having alot of trouble with the Photoshop UI.. Certain things have to be selected before you can use other tools.. the free select is crazy, you have to set it to fixed size and type in the size. Then set it back to normal to select the whole thing. I’m sure I’ll learn some tricks once I get to the Photoshop 1 course in my design certificate but it seems overly complicated right now.

So after my friend helped me with some ideas, I did everything up in GIMP and had some trouble with the text placement. So I was just going to do that part in Photoshop, but couldn’t get the different formats to be happy. And I wanted to change the color I had done a bit. So I started over from scratch in Photoshop. I must say I love the “Inner Glow”, “Outer Glow” and “Bevel and Contour” options in Photoshop. Though I do know how to replicate the outer glow in GIMP.

So there’s the sig.. Now I’m beginning the cutting step of Vercas’ sig. Remember he’s the one that asked for all that text. I’ll deal with that later. He sent so many good screenshots that there are 5 possible poses I’d like to use. I finished one cut and manipulate. It looked like the hardest, it had a prismatic weapon, which is a sword with rainbow glows around it. That was pretty tough to cut out, but I think it came out ok.
